The ISO 14000:2004 Series addresses the aspects of the design, implementation and maintenance of environmental management systems. They include:
Who is it for? Any organization that wishes to:
Does it connect with ISO 9000? It shares common principles with ISO 9000 and most organizations with ISO 9000 certification will find it serves as an excellent basis for ISO 14000. However, whereas with ISO 9000 we are used to contract review as the means of establishing the specification with the customer so that we can measure quality, it may appear we cannot do this with ISO 14000.
The customer is the environment. If we can establish a contract with the environment, set objectives and targets including compliance with legislation, then we have a basis for quality assurance and continual improvement; i.e., reduction of the impact of our business on the environment.
If our targets are energy saving, or reduction of renewable resources impact, or any other costly items then we will be saving money as well as saving the environment. Are YOU costing the Earth? Perhaps you don't know. We can assist you with the initial review. Where are you now? Integrating with ISO 9000. We can advise you on a standalone system to run alongside ISO 9000 or to be integrated fully with it. Why the choice? Well, we can explain that when we meet. TQM? Obviously a build of management systems in an organization provides a sound basis for progress towards TQM providing they are performance based.
